As a member of The White Horse Federation, we are part of a network of over 30 primary and secondary schools across the South West of England.
But how does being a member of this network benefit us as a school and as educators? In this blog post, we’ll explain some of the roles the federation carries out and how this helps us deliver an excellent education.
Teaching is at the core of any school. At our school and at the federation, we are always striving to make sure our teaching methods are up-to-date and as effective as possible to the smallest detail. With the help of their central school-improvement team, The White Horse Federation provides regular teaching and leadership training for all our teaching staff.
The school improvement team is composed of teachers of different expertise from different schools across the federation and the sharing of new ideas and strategies across this broad network of schools is an important part of the development of new teaching methods.
From their central offices, the trust also helps support each school financially. For example providing resources to refurbish classrooms or buy new IT equipment.
By allowing us to work together with other schools, the federation helps our school to draw on the benefits of collaboration and run more efficiently. In this capacity, we are supported in important departments such as recruitment, communications, IT, and financial management.
While the federation provides strong leadership and direction, the distinct qualities and contributions of each school are important to the trust. As a school with a unique identity and atmosphere, this freedom is extremely valuable to us.
